Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 July 2026

This policy is available in English, Arabic, and Swedish. If there is any discrepancy between the translations, the English version prevails.

Sanad (“the app”, “we”) is an on-device Qur’an, Adhkār, and Hadith companion. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. In short: the app runs on your phone, your recitation is processed on your device, and your audio never leaves it.

Who we are

Sanad is published by Ylen Solutions AB (Org.nr 559569-4380), a company registered in Sweden, which is the data controller for any personal data processed. For any privacy question, contact us at [email protected].

What data the app handles

Your voice, while you recite. When you use follow-along or voice search, audio from your microphone is processed entirely on your device to recognise the words you recite. It is used only to follow your place or find a match, and is never recorded, stored, or uploaded to us or any third party.

The Qur’an, Adhkār, and Hadith content. The scripture, du’ās (Hisn al-Muslim), and hadith collections (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim) ship inside the app. Reading and searching them needs no network connection.

Your in-app preferences. Things like your last-read position, bookmarks, theme, and settings are stored locally on your device. They are never sent anywhere.

Anonymous usage analytics (off by default — opt-in). To understand how the app is used, Sanad can collect anonymous usage data — but only if you turn it on. It is off by default; you can enable or disable it anytime in Settings → Privacy. Legal basis: your consent. When enabled, it collects only short, pre-defined values such as which screens you open (e.g. “Qur’an”, “Adhkār”) and which features you use, as counts/flags. It never includes your voice, audio, or what you recited.

Anonymous crash reports (on by default — opt-out). To keep the app stable we collect anonymous crash and error reports: the error type and a short technical message only. This is on by default under our legitimate interest in a working, secure app, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings → Privacy. These diagnostic events are automatically deleted after 90 days.

Every analytics and crash event is tagged only with a random install identifier that is not linked to any account or device identifier, plus the app version, platform, and language. No account is required to use Sanad, and no event ever includes your recitation, audio, or any personal data.

What we do NOT do

Microphone permission

The microphone permission is requested only when you use recitation follow-along or voice search, and is used solely for on-device speech recognition. You can revoke it in your device settings at any time; the rest of the app continues to work by text and touch.

Data security

Because recitation runs on-device and there is no account, there is very little data to protect in transit. Where the app does send anonymous diagnostics, it is protected with HTTPS/TLS. Your reading data and preferences stay in the app’s private storage on your device.

Data retention and deletion

Your preferences and reading data remain on your device until you clear them in the app or uninstall it. Uninstalling Sanad removes all local app data. Anonymous diagnostic events are deleted automatically after 90 days. See Delete your data for details.

Children

Sanad is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
